Helen Fenton


Helen Fenton is a Jazz/Swing singer who has regular live performances in Sydney, Australia, with four different musical groups: The Sydney Sound Big Band, The Kings of Swing, Mike Kuhne Octet, and the Janos Horvath Trio. Helen has released two Jazz records, After Dark and The Simple Life, which are both available through La Brava Music.

The Sydney Sound Big Band: A 16 piece big band based on the 40’s style swing bands of Miller, Goodman, Shaw and James. With authentic arrangements from the swing era, this band will transport you back to another time when jive and jitterbug were all the rage. Helen sings and comperes, prepares special themed programmes on a regular basis and also frequently invites special guests to join her. This band plays at Rockdale RSL every second Thursday night – 7.30-10.30pm. Entry is free. Large dance floor. Friendly atmosphere. Chinese restaurant is also popular. The Kings of Swing: A similar 16 piece swing band under the direction of legendary Errol Buddle, this band is available of all types of functions including corporate, clubs, dance parties etc. This band plays a variety of 40’s jazz standards and more modern arrangements of recent classics. Mike Kuhne Octet: This is an 8 piece band comprising of rhythm (piano, bass and drums) a brass section (trumpet and four saxophones) and vocals from Helen Fenton and Tony Creik. Available for all functions, it specialises in unique arrangements of jazz standards. Great to listen to and especially to dance to! Mike Kuhn writes all arrangements. See below for contact details.
